Glass steins and stoneware steins are different products

The 16 oz glass stein is frosted outside and clear inside, so the beer is visible and the print sits on the frost. The 20 oz and 22 oz steins are stoneware: opaque, heavier, and they read as a traditional stein rather than as a glass. Breweries usually want the glass, festivals and Oktoberfest work usually wants the stoneware.

Frequently asked questions

Can glass be sublimated?

Only coated glass. Bare glass will not hold a dye sublimation transfer. Every glass item here carries an ORCA Coatings surface made for full color sublimation.

How many pint glasses come in a case?

36 for the 17 oz pint glass and the 10 oz frosted mug, 24 for the 16 oz glass stein and 18 for the stoneware steins. Cases currently run from about $88 to $151.

What is the difference between the glass and stoneware steins?

The 16 oz stein is glass, frosted outside and clear inside, so the drink stays visible. The 20 oz and 22 oz steins are stoneware: opaque, heavier and traditional in feel. Breweries tend to prefer the glass, festival and Oktoberfest work tends to prefer stoneware.

Does frosted glass print differently from clear?

The process is the same, but frost gives a softer, more diffused finish and hides fingerprints, which photographs better for listings. Clear glass gives sharper edges to the artwork.

Can a gold trimmed stein go in the microwave?

No. Metallic trim must never be microwaved. Put that on your own listing rather than in fine print.
